v0.4.0

Prerelease

Splits

A split shows two ordinary tabs of one Space side by side in the page area. The sidebar lists them as one row of two halves.

  • Start or end a split from the tab menu or the Omnibar.
  • Drag the divider to resize the two halves.
  • Primary+; moves focus to the tab beside. Page commands go to the active tab.
  • The split is saved with the Space's tabs.
  • Each half shows its own loading mark.
  • A Site permission request from the tab beside waits until you focus that tab. Before, it opened the window's bar as if the active tab had asked.

Glance

A link that asks for a new tab opens a Glance, drawn over the tab it came from. A Glance is not listed in the sidebar.

  • The Glance grows out of the link you clicked and shrinks back into it when it closes.
  • It runs in the Space's engine profile, so you stay signed in.
  • Escape, the close-tab command, a click outside the panel or any change of the tab on show ends it.
  • Primary+Shift+Return keeps it as an ordinary tab. The page comes along with its history, scroll position and form state.
  • Turn Glances off in Settings, under Interface. New-tab links then open tabs as before.

Keyboard

  • Alt+H, Alt+J, Alt+K and Alt+L move the keyboard between the sidebar, the page area and the Developer tools dock. Each half of a split counts as its own region. A hidden region, or one a sheet covers, is skipped.
  • j, k, d, u, gg and G scroll the page in one continuous glide. Each press adds to the same run, so a held key no longer reads as separate nudges. A jump to either end skips everything past the last two screens and glides only that stretch. A wheel scroll stops the glide where it is.

Chrome drawn from the theme

  • The scrollbars of the sidebar's tab list and the Settings pane use the theme's colours. Before, they were a fixed grey. The thumb appears while the list moves and fades when it stops. With the pointer at the edge, it widens, and it takes the accent while you drag it.
  • Omaweb draws a page's own scrollbar with the same component. The engine's pale grey bar with arrow buttons is gone. Boxes inside the page that scroll keep the engine's bar, coloured from the theme.
  • Checkboxes, radio buttons, range sliders and progress bars on a page take the theme's accent instead of the engine's blue. A page that sets its own accent keeps it.
  • Omaweb draws a page's tooltips in its own chrome. A tooltip appears on the same delay as the chrome's and stays until the page withdraws it. It used to disappear after 1500 ms. Long tooltips wrap at a readable width.

Spaces

  • Each Space row in Settings has Move up and Move down. The sidebar follows the new order, and Sync carries it to your other machines.
